LEADERSHIP
Kyi Hla Han’s playing career truly began in 1980 when he was selected to represent his nation in the World Cup of Golf in Bogota Columbia alongside his idol Mya Aye. In 1982 Kyi Hla turned professional and launched his extraordinarily successful 25 year run as a competitor on the world golf stage.
In addition to his many tournament victories, in 1999 he achieved his greatest honor, The Asian Order of Merit.
The son of a Burmese diplomat, at a very young Kyi Hla gained unparalleled international experience both on the golf course and in a myriad of eastern and western cultural settings. As a seasoned world traveler and talented golfer Kyi Hla has used his gifts to make significant contributions in promoting the sport he loves throughout his homeland and all of East Asia.
Beyond his on course prowess, his business successes are legendary from being voted the Tournament Players Committee (TPC) Chairman during his playing days to Executive Chairman of the Asian Tour upon his exit from competitive golf. It is not in titles that Kyi Hla measures his successes but in relationships. His proudest achievements are in the form of the success of the Asian Tour which he led to its meteoric rise over the last decade, and his constant commitment to the development of golf programs both Junior, Amateur, and professional throughout East Asia. All of which can be attributed to the extreme trust and confidence placed in him by those many associates who have supported Kyi Hla’s efforts to help make golf in East Asia what it is today.
